Dear SIBS Families,

Welcome to Springboard International Bilingual School, where your child’s educational journey begins. Springboard International Bilingual School is destined for amazing things this year. The gifts and talents of our students combined with the dedication and passion of our teachers allows us to strive for excellence. At SIBS we adhere to excellence as a value. Excellence is not the result of good intentions or a clever slogan, and it is not a value that is easy to achieve. It comes from a faculty and staff that works hard and has a strong desire to improve and implement a curriculum focused on student achievement.

As an international school, SIBS continues to strive to be a school that sets its students and teachers up for success. We are happy to say that over eighty percent of our current foreign teachers will return for the 2015-2016 academic year. Our teaching staff this year was a large part of our success and we will grow upon what we have built going into next year. I anticipate a most successful year as the team and I support the academic, social, and emotional growth of your children here at SIBS.

There will continue to be positive changes happening at SIBS in the classroom. At the beginning of each year we set out to achieve the goal of raising each student’s English reading comprehension skills to their proper grade level. To ensure this we are establishing Columbia University’s benchmark reading assessments. These benchmark assessments measure a child’s oral reading comprehension fluency in the area of English and are given multiple times throughout the year. Each classroom is equipped with several different levelled Reading A-Z readers, giving each student access to material at their level for fluency improvement.

As a school, we will also continue to focus on character education initiatives through hosting assemblies that help teach students about team work, sharing, and responsibility to foster a nurturing and safe setting for children. At SIBS we want a safe, happy, helpful and respectful school environment enabling our students to achieve excellence.
