History:

The SEMAR Group is proud to tell its story, the result of the commercial vision of the Lebanese immigrant Georges, who arrived with his family in Brazil in 1956 facing all the difficulties of being in another country with different culture and customs. He starts a business at street fairs to support his family and thus arouses interest with great will and commercial vocation.

Result of more than 30 years of work, union and commitment of the family that in the 80's set up the first store with the name of Supermercado Estrela and in the following years, with the growth of the company and the need to seek new challenges, the chain expanding more and more with the name Semar Supermercados.

The name SEMAR appeared after the birth of the third child, and the brand was created by combining the initials of the three children's names: Sandro, Elie and Marco.

The network's success is marked by offering quality products and excellent service, following the motto that formed our slogan:

SEMAR “A place for families to save money”
