Rivest Cipher (RC4)

在密碼術中，RC4（Rivest密碼4）是流密碼。

In cryptography, RC4 (Rivest Cipher 4 also known as ARC4 or ARCFOUR meaning Alleged RC4, see below) is a stream cipher. While it is remarkable for its simplicity and speed in software, multiple vulnerabilities have been discovered in RC4, rendering it insecure.

RC4 is used in various applications such as WEP from 1997 and WPA from 2003. We also find applications of RC4 in SSL from 1995 and it is a successor of TLS from 1999. RC4 is used in varied applications because of its simplicity, speed, and simplified implementation in both software and hardware.
