Lyodra Margaretha Ginting (born in Medan, 21 June 2003; age 16 years), is a singer from Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. His name began to be widely known to the public, after Lyodra won the international singing event at the 2017 Sanremo Junior Festival in the city of Sanremo, Italy. The name Lyodra is increasingly recognized by the public for its participation in the Indonesian Idol (tenth season) singing talent event, which was finally crowned the winner on March 2, 2020, becoming the youngest winner with Maria Simorangkir from the previous season and defeating the Tiara Anugrah representative from Jember, East Java .

Personal life

Lyodra was born under the name Lyodra Margaretha Ginting on June 21, 2003. Lyodra was the first child of two siblings, from the couple Simar Ginting and Natalia Johana Beru Tarigan. Lyodra graduated from the St. Ignatius Middle School in Medan, and is currently a student at the Santo Thomas 2 High School in Medan. In an interview with the local media Kumparan, Lyodra revealed that he also loved acting and theater.

A singing career

Lyodra started to take part in the national level singing competition through the Kirana Semen 2014 event. Next, she joined the Indonesian talent search event Looking for Talent 4 and became a finalist who occupies the 6th position. Still in the same year, Lyodra became a member of a project organized by renowned Indonesian composer Erwin Gutawa, named "Above Average".

Lyodra began appearing in various national events. On April 2, 2016, the Above Average team held a concert with Erwin Gutawa and Gita Gutawa. In the Java Jazz Festival 2016 music event, Lyodra was also one of the performers. In commemoration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2016, Lyodra and the Above Average team appeared as performers at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Stepping on the trail in the international world, Lyodra participated in the 2017 Sanremo Junior Festival competition in the City of Sanremo, Italy. In the event held on May 3, 2017, Lyodra performed the song Dear Dream by Gita Gutawa, which was translated from the original Indonesian song entitled "Promise for Dreams". Lyodra won first place by defeating 22 participants from 18 countries.

In 2019, Lyodra returned to the talent search event, Indonesian Idol (tenth season). And on March 2, 2020, he was named the winner, defeating Tiara Anugrah.
