Panic attack is an incomprehensible, intolerable for a person attack of severe anxiety, accompanied by fear, combined with various autonomic (somatic) manifestations. Such as - a sudden increase in heart rate, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, severe weakness, a feeling of unreality of what is happening. At the same time, there is almost always the fear of sudden death, loss of self-control or fear of going crazy.

A panic attack develops quickly, its symptoms reach their maximum intensity usually within 5-10 minutes and then also disappear quickly. Thus, a panic attack occurs and passes by itself, without posing a real physical threat to life.

But for a person suffering from panic attacks, this short period of time seems like an eternity. In addition, in addition to physical symptoms, anxiety is exacerbated by painful thoughts, such as: "I'm dying", "I have a roof", "I have a stroke", "now unconscious" and others. When a person feels fear, he is afraid of something specific, and when experiencing feelings of anxiety, a person does not know what is the source of this feeling. Anxiety is the result of repressed fears and stress. It is not so easy to overcome. To overcome the real anxiety, and not temporarily reduce the level of anxiety - you need to find and then eliminate the causes, and this requires mainly psychotherapy. Therefore, the state of anxiety is more severe than the state of fear.

A panic attack is characterized by a relatively sudden swelling of severe fear. Anxiety is relatively unfocused, but can often affect one's own body and is accompanied by physical symptoms such as palpitations, rapid breathing, and cold sweat. In order to stop the swelling, it can be useful to focus on a calm flow, to force yourself to steady, calm breathing through certain exercises.

However, breathing alone training may not be enough to regulate panic attacks. Strong rapid breaths can lead to hyperventilation, which can be quite threatening for the patient. In this case, it may help to breathe into the bag for a short time to counteract hyperventilation. For patients with frequent panic attacks, it may be helpful to practice "emergency breathing exercises" to calm them down. Consultation with a doctor or psychologist is desirable.

Breathing exercises and rest values can always be done when it is good. In the beginning, it may be helpful to first learn the exercises in a calm environment so that you can use them successfully in your daily life. Breathing exercises can provide a small time out and rest for 2-3 minutes in daily life, but can also be used as part of general relaxation exercises.

Deep, increased breathing should not be longer than 2-3 minutes to avoid hyperventilation. After a short break, in which breathing is normal, a new round of breathing exercises may take place.
