Mecca or Makkah al-Mukarramah (Arabic: مكة المكرمة) is a major city in Saudi Arabia. This city became the main goal of the Muslims in performing the pilgrimage, In this city there is a main building named Masjidil Haram with the Kaaba in it. This Kaaba building is used as a benchmark of Qibla direction for worship of Muslims around the world. This city is the holy city of Muslims and the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

The city of Mecca lies about 600 km south of the city of Madinah, approximately 200 km northeast of Jeddah. This city is a narrow valley surrounded by mountains with the building of the Ka'ba as its center. Thus, in the old days the city is prone to flooding in the rainy season before the Saudi government finally fix this city and renovate this city. Like most urban cities in Saudi Arabia, the city is temperate for desert.
