The Qadiriyya (Arabic: القدريه‎, Persian: قدريه‎, also transliterated Qadri, Qadriya, Kadri, Elkadri, Elkadry, Aladray, Alkadrie, Adray, Kadray, Qadiri,"Quadri" or Qadri) are members of the Qadiri tariqa (Sufi order ). The tariqa got its name from Abdul Qadir Gilani (1077-1166, also transliterated Jilani), who was from Gilan. The order relies strongly upon adherence to the fundamentals of Islam.

The order, with its many offshoots, is widespread, particularly in the Arabic-speaking world, and can also be found in Turkey, Indonesia, Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Balkans, Russia, Palestine, Israel, China, [1 ] and East and West Africa.

About Shajra:

After one is initiated as a mureed (disciple), the Murshid (spiritual guide) hands over a copy of the Shajra (lineage of the Grand Masters) to the mureed.

The wisdom behind reading the Shajra for the mureed in a specific silsila, is that his link with the spiritual chain and the spiritual masters who make up the spiritual chain is kept fresh and "rust free"; by virtue of the mureeds daily recitation of the Shajra. By reciting the Shajra, one repeatedly renews one's pledge with the Masters of the Order; and this contact brings great results in this world and in the hereafter.

The Shajra is usually recited after Salaatul Fajr or after Salaatul Esha. The time for reading should be kept constant. The wazaaif prescribed by the Sheikh to a mureed should be upkept without fail; for this serves as a "polish" for the heart - as stated by the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam):
