Hock Nam Coffee is Ijok famous traditional charcoal coffee. Owner of the only coffee factory in Ijok learned the skills to fry coffee beans from his father in a coffee shop 40 years ago. A decade later, he inherited the skills and started to fry coffee beans with his youngest son and has been operating since 1975. Old habits die hard, despite the lengthy process of frying coffee beans, Hock Nam Coffee owner still prefers to roast his own. Using a vintage coffee bean frying machine that is more than 40 years old, works diligently over a pit of blazing firewood to cook up to 90kg of coffee beans.
