Study on the environmental impact of teleworking

Teleworking is a working model that has seen rapid diffusion in Switzerland over the last few years, also driven by the urgent needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the adoption of this model was not accompanied by scientific evaluations of its social and environmental impacts. The RENEWAL research group has developed an innovative data collection system, which uses Garmin smartwatches and the location history service offered by Google Maps to measure the impact of teleworking on mobility, greenhouse gas emissions and psychological well-being. physique of workers. We will use this data collection system on a sample of employees in Ticino, to fully understand the social and environmental impacts of teleworking.
