2023-06-20
Clash Royale is releasing the highly anticipated Card Evolution update on June 19th with some exciting new features. The Season 48 Get Ready for Evolution June 2023 Update also focused on this theme, generating a lot of curiosity about how the evolution cards will enhance gameplay.
Clash Royale Card Evolution update overview
Card Evolution is a process that occurs during battles in which the cards are upgraded. These upgraded versions of the cards will bring about new and thrilling attacks, enabling players to use them by making use of their original cards.
The game announced in June that Barbarian would be the first card to undergo Card Evolution, followed by Larry the Skeleton, Firecracker, and eventually Royal Giant. The posters for all these cards hinted at a unique ability through similar patterns.
Evolution Card Details
This update will allow four specific cards, namely Barbarian, Firecracker, Skeleton, and Royal Giant to unlock their evolutions and gain distinctive special abilities.
Barbarian
When the Barbarians successfully strike their target, it causes them to become infuriated. The more enraged they are, the greater amount of harm they can inflict upon their opponent. With each hit landed, their speed in both attacking and moving is increased. This pattern continues for a single cycle before restarting again.
Skeletons
Whenever a hit is landed successfully, a new form of Skeleton Evolution emerges. At most, six skeletons are produced during this procedure. The summoning sequence occurs three times in succession.
Firecracker
With improved arms, the Firecracker can produce explosive sparks that enhance its ability to cause damage within a specific area and over time. This pattern of explosive attacks occurs two times in succession.
Royal Giant
The updated Royal Giant card now has the ability to cause Recoil Damage upon firing. This means that when it shoots, it will also push back and harm any enemy Troops within a certain range for one cycle.
Activating Card Evolution
To activate a Card Evolution, you need to gather specific Evolution Shards for that particular card. Once activated, the Evolution can be used in battles by placing it in your deck's designated slot. To trigger the evolution, you must play the card with an evolution a certain number of times (cycles), which will then become available again once it is ready to use.
The Card Evolution feature allows for stronger attacks to occur automatically without requiring any special abilities. Once the evolution is played, the original card can be used again but must go through a certain number of cycles before being able to activate the evolution once more.
Evolution in Battles, Shards, and Slots
Evolution in Battles
Evolved cards are easily recognizable as they have a purple icon next to their level. When in battle, players will see drops of Dark Elixir appear on top of the evolved card in their hand if it is placed in one of the Evolution Slots. The number of drops corresponds to how many times the card needs to be played before its evolution can take place.
After the card is used enough times, all of its Dark Elixir drops will be full which means it's ready for Evolution. The opponent can also see this. When the player uses the card again, Evolution happens and then it goes back to its original state to start over again.
Evolution Shards
Evo Shards, also known as Evolution Shards, is a card mechanism that enables players to unlock Card Evolution. To achieve this, they must collect six specific Evo Shards for each card. After obtaining all the required Evo Shards, the evolution feature will be unlocked and accessible for use on that particular card.
There are several methods to acquire Evo Shards, which will be listed below.
Wild Shards are another type of resource that enables players to add a single Evo Shard to any card they choose. This can be used not only for evolving cards, but also for unlocking the initial Evo Shard required for any card with an available evolution. Wild Shards can be obtained from either the Season Shop or in-game Shop.
Evolution Slots
The Evolution Slots feature in the game involves using Evolution Cards to trigger a card's evolution during battle. The first slot becomes available when the player reaches King Level 7. To include Card Evolutions in their deck, players must assign unlocked cards to an available Evolution Slot within their deck.
The card will work normally if it's put in a different slot than the designated one, and the Evolution feature won't activate. The creators have also stated that more slots may be added later on as new Card Evolutions are released.
Evolutions in Game Modes
There are specific methods for how Evolutions will operate within the game. However, depending on the different game modes (excluding Classic/Grand Challenges which do not allow Card Evolutions), there will be modifications in how to use Card Evolutions, and these changes are described below.
Players can now use Evolutions in both 2v2 and Duel Decks modes by assigning them to their Evo Slots. The presence of Evolutions during Events, however, varies depending on the specific event being played.
When players participate in events that allow them to use their own card collection, they can choose to add Evolutions into their decks. However, if the event uses a pre-made deck, there will be a set amount of slots for Evolutions and predetermined options available for players to use.
In the same way, Event Challenges offer various situations. If an Event Challenge uses a player's collection, they can use Evolutions with their Evolution Slots and make use of their evolved cards. However, if an Event Challenge involves using an Event Deck, the rules will determine how many Evo Slots and Evolutions are allowed to be used.
Additional Changes
In addition to fixing bugs and enhancing the gameplay, this update has introduced some intriguing features that are elaborated on below.
Trophy Road Extension
Clash Royale has introduced three new Arenas to the Trophy Road due to popular demand from players who want more content and rewards. These newly added Arenas may be recognized by some players from previous Seasons, and a maximum of 9000 Trophies is now available thanks to an increase in the total Trophy cap.
New King Levels and Tower Power
The highest level that can be reached in the game is now King Level 70, thanks to the addition of 20 new levels. Additionally, players who reach King Level 54 will unlock Tower Power 15 which boosts their towers' Damage stats and Hitpoints.
Elite Levels
We are all aware of the controversy that surrounded the introduction of Level 15 cards in the game, and they have now been released. Unlike previous levels, players will not require Gold to upgrade their cards from Level 14 to Level 15. Instead, if a player acquires more cards of the same type after reaching Level 14, those extra ones will be transformed into Elite Wild Cards.
We provide a comprehensive manual for the Elite Card levels, which explains how players can upgrade their cards to Elite Level 15 and includes information on conversion rates. This will enable players to have a thorough understanding of the process.
New Mastery Tasks and updated Rewards
Gamers who enjoy completing Mastery Tasks may find this news intriguing. Clash Royale has introduced a new third stage of mastery tasks for certain cards, which will give players the opportunity to earn exciting and updated rewards.
- Royal Giant
- Battle Ram
- Battle Healer
- Electro Wizard
- Balloon
- Musketeer
The community's feedback has resulted in changes to the reward system for a card's second Mastery Task. Instead of receiving Gems, players will now be given Gold as their final stage reward. Details on the implemented changes can be found below.
- Common: 300 Gems to 5000 Gold
- Rare: 300 Gems to 9000 Gold
- Epic: 300 Gems to 15000 Gold
- Legendary: 300 Gems to 18000 Gold
- Champion: 450 Gems to 25000 Gold
More Gold and More Chests
After receiving feedback from players, the game developers have decided to bring back the feature where players can earn Crowns and chests through Events. This decision was made due to negative reactions received by the team when they removed this feature in March 2023 update.
After the update, Gold will be more abundant in various forms such as Free Chests, Crown Chests, and those obtained from battles. The amount of Gold contained in each type of chest has tripled compared to its previous quantity.
Improvements and Bug Fixes
The update has brought about some enhancements and corrections of errors.
- Play Again button in 2v2 Events is brought back.
- The Events tab will be highlighted if there is a new Event Challenge.
- The Events tab will auto-scroll to a new Event Challenge the first time it is available.
- Changed Events tab UI so that Event Challenges are more visible.
- Unclaimed Pass Royale rewards can be claimed from the previous Season.
- Fixed major and minor exisiting gameplay, UI, and VFX issues.
A new update video featuring the Barbarian is out
By reviving the well-liked Slash Royale competition and extending the Raffle Royale until June 19, both new and returning players can benefit from a great chance to enhance their cards at a much lower cost in Gold.
Clash Royale has marked the introduction of its new feature by presenting a video that showcases Barbarian theme. The video features music from Tenacious D and was released on June 15th. "Rize of the Fenix," one of Tenacious D's popular hits, is played in the background which perfectly matches with the fast-paced action sequences portrayed in the clip showcasing an angry barbarian’s fury.
The latest update to Clash Royale is expected to bring significant changes in the game's strategic meta, resulting in new and interesting matchups with different card combinations. As more Evolved cards are added each month, it will be fascinating to observe how these alterations impact the overall gameplay experience.
