Watch Dogs 2 (stylized as WATCH_DOGS 2) is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. This is the sequel to the 2014 Watch Dogs and was published worldwide for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows in November 2016. Set in a romance version of the San Francisco Bay Area, the game is played from a third-person point of view and its open world is navigated by foot or vehicle. Players control Marcus Holloway, a hacker who works with the DedSec hacking group to take over the city's advanced surveillance system known as CTO. There are several ways to complete missions, and each successful assignment increases the number of DedSec followers. Cooperative multiplayer allows to fight a competition and to connect with other players in order to neutralize a player who is at the origin of the ravages.

Ubisoft Montreal, the developer of the game, studied the comments of the players in the first game to evaluate what could be improved in Watch Dogs 2 and the frame was sought by making frequent trips to California. Ubisoft Reflections was responsible for the overhaul of the driving mechanic. Real pirates have been consulted to validate the scripts and game mechanisms for authenticity and references to real life hacktivism have been romanced, as the project Chanology protest. The soundtrack of Watch Dog 2 was composed by Hudson Mohawke. The game was released at the overall positive reception of the critic who hailed the game to improve the original Watch dogs in areas such as piracy, tuning, characters and driving. However, inconsistencies in character, firearms and frequent technical issues – later patched – were cited as imperfections.
