In India, vaccination records tend to be recorded manually on paper-based Mother and Child Protection cards (MCP). Not only are these cards easily lost, their paper-based nature makes the data compiling process extremely inefficient. Currently, the MCP card immunization record is filled out by the vaccinators at the point of service, but entry of immunization data occurs offline, at the Primary Health Centre, with delays. New systems for data collection involving tablet computers are planned, but manual data entry poses important challenges for these health workers. Without timely and accurate data, vaccine delivery suffers, leading to poorer coverage and follow-up of immunization.

We have developed an application to help frontline workers equipped with a mobile smartphone in their tasks. The approach will change immunization data processes in four key ways:

1) Equity Focused Approach

2) Digitised Data in Click

3) Actionable analytics for health workers and planners

4) Mobile phones linked directly to beneficiaries
