This app from ExamTray measures the distance between two geo points (Latitude, Longitude) using the built in Phone GPS. You can walk or drive from start point to end point. You can always check accuracy in meters and capture points. This is the smartest way of measuring or calculating distance without using any physical tape or rope. You can simply measure road crossing distance using this app for example.
