The Smart Valve app communicates with the SKF SFD Smart Valve air dryer using Bluetooth LE to allow users to select the number of start-up and shut-down cycles as well as the cycle duration in order to manage the amount of purge loss and level of drying performance. The more cycles chosen will optimize pressure dew point. The fewer cycles minimize the purge loss.

Additionally, the app allows users to track diagnostic information (including the number of cycles) on their dryer and provides service alerts to email addresses registered in the app. The app also allows users to enter and store service information.
