The National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) was established to describe and compare inpatient care and outcomes of patients undergoing emergency bowel surgery in England and Wales in order to promote quality improvement. NELA was commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) and funded by NHS England and the Welsh government.
This app presents a digest of the published audit reports, published hospital-level data and two risk calculators: P-POSSUM and the new NELA risk calculator.
