Obstructed labour is a leading cause of maternal deaths worldwide. The partograph is a paper-based labour-monitoring tool designed to support clinicians in identifying prolonged or obstructed labour. However, compliance with the paper tool is negligible in large because of the complexity of the form and inadequate training on its proper use. We have tackled several barriers to partograph use, by creating an innovative mobile application, which provides decision support, automatic graphing, alarms, and reminders prompting clinicians to conduct patient exams. Piloted in a formal usability study in Delhi, India, the study revealed positive feedback, primarily in regards to timeliness of exams and automatic graphing.

This application is populated with demo data to showcase how it would look and be used for real patients, as an example of the features of an app currently in development by Dimagi, powered by the application CommCare.
