In my opinion, the real utility of this application is to keep the GPS receiver active even when the phone is on standby. This is not explicitly stated in the presentation of the app. My phone loses its position when it is in standby and when it comes out of standby, it loses some time to regain it. With this app I see it instantly. So it consumes more in standby, but certainly much less than keeping the screen on.
