What is App Gest-Cubierta?

The Gest-Cubierta App aims to allow the farmer or technician to closely monitor the vegetation cover of their plantation in real time, using remote sensing and modeling techniques.

Thus, with the Gest-Cubierta App the farmer or technician will be able to visualize the state of the cover of his plantation in terms of level of coverage and vegetative state, through a visualization system that shows the temporal evolution and spatial variability. of the vegetation cover in the plantation since the beginning of the campaign, through the use of vegetation indices from the Sentinel 2 satellites, which are automatically updated.

In addition, the App has a module for calculating the water content in the soil after evaluating the recorded precipitation and transpiration of the plantation and the cover, through a daily water balance. This balance of water in the soil allows us to determine the level of water stress reached in the plantation, as well as the impact of the vegetal cover on the plantation.

Farmers and technicians with woody crop plantations in Andalusia interested in carrying out close real-time monitoring of the vegetation cover to improve its management and identify situations that may compromise its proper functioning (competition with the woody crop, poor implementation, heterogeneity, regrowth after mowing, etc.).
