"WE ARE A CHURCH

Church is a group of people who unite around the person of Jesus Christ. That is, we are an ASSEMBLY of Christians who communicate the same faith as Jesus' apostles. We recognize that Jesus Christ is our personal Lord and Savior. We try to follow his teachings, remaining faithful to what we read in the Holy Bible. We used to call each other brothers, because we had the experience of the new spiritual birth, thus becoming children of God. We come together to praise God, worshiping His holy name and studying His Word.

We are an Evangelical Church

For us, the Bible is the only foundation of our faith. We know that the Bible is God's revelation to men, so we try to make his teaching known. God speaks through the Bible and we submit to what is written in it. The gospel is the good news for our lives and for every person who accepts it. Just as the good news of the gospel of Jesus has transformed our lives, we know that they can transform everyone's life, so we try to spread them as much as possible. The New Testament speaks of the good news of Jesus.

We are an Evangelical Baptist Church

Baptists are known around the world. They are like a branch of the great tree that is Christianity. They are well known in Brazil, even more so in the USA, England and Germany, as well as in Romania, India and Russia. We believe that Jesus is the only means of salvation. Only by Grace are we saved through faith. One of our great convictions is that no one is born a Christian, but that each one is called to become a Christian through his personal faith in Jesus. It is through conversion to Jesus Christ that man can have a direct encounter with God. We only baptize people who profess their faith in Jesus. Therefore, we do not baptize newborns and children. The word baptism means to immerse. Therefore, we only practice baptism (by immersion) for those who wish to follow Jesus and make their public profession of faith.

We are defenders of individual freedom

In the Baptist church there is no hierarchy, only Jesus Christ is the Lord. He is the true head of the church. The message of Baptists is of FREEDOM. The church cannot exercise temporal power, as its vocation is to proclaim love, faith and peace in the hope of Christ's return.

An Independent Autonomous Church

Our desire as a local church is to achieve goals that are wider than the limits of our own region or community. Therefore, we come together, giving solidarity and communion with churches that have the same principles and the same objectives, to reach man in his totality - body, mind and spirit - and everywhere, going to the ends of the world to take the word.

Membership in other communities or Conventions cannot become an obstacle to the free exercise of their autonomy or a straitjacket in which the church is immobilized, nor a plaster of its independence. The local church must fight against any and all doctrines that prevent it from being free and independent. Each Baptist church is free to choose its destination, manage its business, elect its board of directors, install its pastor and carry out its work, without giving satisfaction to any religious, ecclesiastical or governmental institution. To be a Baptist is to be free from the dominion of men and a slave to Christ. "Not me anymore, but Christ lives in me". Galatians 2.20

Evangelical Baptist Church in Alto da Mooca

IEBAM was organized with 19 members on 12/02/1950, making today about 400 people. Organized at Rua Padre Raposo, 1368. Then it went to Rua do Oratório, 2570, then to its current headquarters, Rua do Oratório, 2930 - Alto da Mooca. IEBAM is a non-profit society, registered in the 3rd. São Paulo Legal Entity Registry. It is sovereign, autonomous and independent, not subordinate to any other church or entity, recognizing exclusively the authority of Jesus Christ expressed in the Sacred Scriptures.
