Optimum patient impact and efficient resource allocation in support of new diagnostic technologies can only be achieved by following national and international evidence-based guidelines. Selection of patients for testing, as well as timely linkage to appropriate treatment, are essential components of new diagnostics implementation.

The Open Medicine Project is a non-profit organization based in Cape Town, South Africa, whose aim is to improve healthcare worker capacity through mobile technology.

We believe that through innovation, collaboration and technology, we will overcome significant healthcare challenges in the developing world.

This mobile application is designed to support clinicians in making decisions on the use of the Xpert MTB/RIF test for the rapid diagnosis of TB and rifampicin resistance in adult and children suspected of having TB, as well as in interpretation of results and patient management, based on WHO recommendations.
