Simply heavenly: The audio guide provides insights into the oeuvre of Guido Reni, onetime star painter of the Italian Baroque. Strong emotions and suspenseful action characterize his works. His special trademark is the heavenward gaze. The personal portrayals of Guido Reni and his art by the German-Italian TV presenter Ingo Zamperoni make the audio guide an exceptional listening experience. The approximately 60-minute app comprises audio tracks on many of the works in the exhibition along with illustrations.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Misunderstood, repressed, forgotten – in winter 2022, the Städel Museum is rediscovering the former star painter of the Italian Baroque: Guido Reni (1575–1642) in a large-scale exhibition. In his time he was one of the most successful painters in Europe, whose ambivalent personality – between deeply religious and at the same time superstitious, fabulously successful and hopelessly addicted to gambling – fascinates. In his art, Reni translated the beauty of the divine into painting like no other – regardless of whether it was about the Christian heaven or the ancient world of gods. For the first time in over 30 years, the exhibition brings together his fascinating paintings, drawings and etchings and opens up a new perspective on Guido Reni.
