Welcome to Braille for Beginners, a simple interactive app to help you learn and understand the written language of the blind. This app is an invaluable aid if you are learning, or if you are just plain curious (like me).

Braille is a system of reading and writing for the blind.

It was invented around 1824 by Louis Braille who was born in Coupvray, France in 1809.

Louis Braille became blind as a result of a childhood accident and the system he invented was an adaptation of military night writing which was not a success.
