After the suppression of the threat of cephalopods,

a power vacuum was created that was eventually filled by C.E.L.L.,

including energy, C.E.L.L. used financial and debt schemes to establish control over the population.

New York was not rebuilt after the hostilities and finally turned into ruins,

in which conflicts flare up from time to time between the troops of C.E.L.L.,

the remnants of cephalopods that survived after a biological attack,

and rebels resisting the dictatorship of the corporation.
