Daily Balochistan Express is a leading newspaper. Mr. Siddiq Baluch, a very senior journalist, is the Editor.

Born in Karachi, Mr. Baluch got primary education in Lyari and passed the High School examinations from City High School, Karachi. He led the school football team and it became champion of the Inter-School Tournament, Karachi. Later on, he graduated from the S.M. College, Karachi, the premier educational institution of Sindh. While there, he first led its football team that retained the title of football championship for 15 consecutive years. Elected President of the S.M. College Students Union in the year 1963-64. Graduated from the University of Karachi.

Got Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Karachi in 1966. Led the University Football team in the Inter-University Football Tournament. Also represented the football team of the Pakistan Universities in 1961.

Joined Dawn newspaper as trainee sub-editor in 1966. Later promoted as full-fledged Sub-editor. Remained Edition In-charge and brought out editions of DAWN for many years.

Transferred to Reporting Desk and remaining Roving Correspondent, Political Correspondent and Special Correspondent of DAWN. Covered many international conferences in world capital. Accompanied the Presidents and Prime Minister during their tour to foreign countries on official visit as part of the media delegation.

Elected Member of the Governing Body of the Karachi Press Club for over two decades. Elected President, Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) for two consecutive terms in 1981 and 1982. Remained an active member of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) till 1988.

Resigned from DAWN and brought out Daily Balochistan Express, Quetta, in 1990. Editing the newspaper for the past 20 years. Also editing Daily Azadi, an Urdu Daily, for the past eight years.

Elected President of the Balochistan Editors Council for two consecutive terms. Remained senior Vice-President of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) and remained a Member of the Executive Committee of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS).

It is an independent daily having no links with any opinion. It is edited by professional journalists enjoying high reputation in the eyes of their readers all over Pakistan. It covers all the five ecological zones of Balochistan besides major cities and townships of Pakistan. For the past two decades, it is regularly published and distributed in more than 150 townships and human settlements as a prestigious newspaper. The newspaper had a very high stall value. It had the web pages till early 2000. More than quarter of a million people visited its website during the US invasion of Afghanistan. It was the most popular website in Balochistan and elsewhere for its news and views. For unavoidable reasons, the website was closed. Now, after seven years.
