Her real name is Nguyen Thi Thanh Hien. During her time at the battlefield she also had the nickname Thanh Hong. She was born in Dong Hung, Thai Binh, Dao Xa, Thanh Thuy, Phu Tho.

She is currently the head of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet.
