There are actually two different types of games they're not a similar game or not even in the same category however they are alike in some ways like for example they have the same tools kind of they have the same achievements or something
Big difference is obviously that terraria is 2D while Minecraft is 3D
Also in Terraria you're not alone and like in Minecraft why you are surviving Island in Terraria you have first guy that you spawn with
Main question: is terraria 2D Minecraft? No

Terraria way better than Minecraft in so many ways

heres somthing @cullen , terraria, which came out before minecraft, is not anywhere NEAR like minecraft so i want you to see that, also some ppl say terraria is a copy of minecraft. and like i said, it came out BEFORE minecraft. anyways end of discussion.

Terraria has way more armor, mobs, pets, tools, and so on. It is way better than Minecraft and the only similar thing would be blocks.

The official release for terraria was 6 months before the official release of minecraft. Terraria came first. Minecraft copied terraria. Terraria is better anyway but it depends on your preference. Terraria is a more combat oriented adventure game that makes you wanna hang yourself and minecraft is a laid back adventure game where you chill and build **** and do whatever you want and makes you wanna kill yourself out of boredom.

Terraria is fun but it is stressful asf and makes me wanna **** bricks and pull my hair out
