Okra–IFC–bilingual (Hindi and English)

Okra–IFC–bilingual, an android based mobile app developed in English to assist pest management in Okra (Bhendi). The app includes label claim insecticides, fungicides and bio-pesticides numbering 35, one and 13 respectively based on the recommendations (January 1, 2021) of Central Insecticide Board ad Registration Committee of Government of India. Modules of IFC include options for selecting insect pest/disease/nematode or pesticides (chemical/biological) along with methods of application (seed treatment, soil application and foliar spray) to proceed for further calculations. IFC assists in calculation of quantity of pesticides required to be procured for a given farm area besides facilitating dilution and method of field application. ‘Waiting period’ after application of synthetic chemicals and before harvest have also been furnished, wherever available. The feature of ‘area converter’ provide conversions of hectares into acres and vice versa. While ‘More info’ displays source and contact information details and ‘demo’ screen shows “how to use IFC”. ‘Feedback’ button allows users to mail their reviews, queries and suggestions to the developer of IFCs. Okra–IFC–bilingual is expected to promote scientific use of only the recommended chemicals at right quantities towards management of insect pests and diseases of Okra.
