March 30th marks the annual observation of National Doctors Day. This day was established to recognize physicians, their work and their contributions to society and the community. On National Doctors Day, we say “thank you” to our physicians for all that they do for us and our loved ones.

Doctors Day is celebrated on different dates in different countries across the world.

The symbol of Doctors Day is a red carnation because the flower stands for love, charity, selflessness and sacrifice, traits that a doctor must hold.

The first ever Doctors Day was observed on 30th March in the US state of Georgia. It involved sending cards to physicians and placing flowers on the graves of dead doctors.
