It is sunnatullah that humanity will always experience division and unity. Including Muslims. Since Rasulullah SAW. died, there were several problems that divided the Muslim community. However, Allah has guaranteed the preservation of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. until yaumil qiyamah.

Rasulullah saw. himself has said that his people will be divided.

It was narrated by Imam Abu Daud from Abu Hurairah, that Rasulullah saw. said: "The Jews are divided into 71 or 72 factions, the Christians have been divided into 71 or 72 factions, my people will be divided into 73 factions." (Narrated by Abu Dawud).

The words of Rasulullah saw. it has been proven true. Scholars researched that currently, the Muslim community even exceeds 73 groups. Some say that the 73 groups are the big groups. In another hadith it is said that out of the 73 groups, only one group survived.

Rasulullah saw. said: "My people will be divided into seventy-three (73) groups. All will go to hell except one”. The Companions asked, "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah replied, "Those who hold on to what I and my friends hold" (HR at-Tirmidhi).

The survivors are those who adhere to the teachings of the Prophet. and his friends. In another history, it is said that the survivors are those who follow al-Jama'ah.

Rasulullah saw. said: "Indeed, this ummah will be divided into seventy-three (73) factions. Seventy two (72) classes in hell. And one (1) class in heaven. They (those in heaven) are aljama'ah." (Narrated by Abu Dawud).

In language, al-Jama'ah means group. In reality, Muslims are divided into groups. Then which group is referred to in the hadith above? Rasulullah saw. explained that what is meant is the largest group in this ummah. When there are differences between groups of Muslims, Muslims should join and hold on to the majority group of people. Because, Allah will not unite the people of Muhammad in error.
