সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় (জন্ম: ৭ সেপ্টেম্বর, ১৯৩৪/(২১ ভাদ্র, ১৩৪১ বঙ্গাব্দ)-মৃত্যু: ২৩ অক্টোবর, ২০১২) বিংশ শতকের শেষার্ধে আবিভুর্ত একজন প্রথিতযশা বাঙালি সাহিত্যিক। ২০১২ খ্রিস্টোব্দে মৃত্যুর পূর্ববর্তী চার দশক তিনি বাংলা সাহিত্যের অন্যতম পুরোধা-ব্যক্তিত্ব হিসাবে সর্ববৈশ্বিক বাংলা ভাষা-ভাষী জনগোষ্ঠীর কাছে ব্যাপকভাবে পরিচিত ছিলেন। বাঙলাভাষী এই ভারতীয় সাহিত্যিক একাধারে কবি, ঔপন্যাসিক, ছোটগল্পকার, সম্পাদক, সাংবাদিক ও কলামিস্ট হিসাবে অজস্র স্মরণীয় রচনা উপহার দিয়েছেন। তিনি আধুনিক বাংলা কবিতার জীবনানন্দ-পরবর্তী পর্যায়ের অন্যতম প্রধান কবি। একই সঙ্গে তিনি আধুনিক ও রোমান্টিক। তাঁর কবিতার বহু পংক্তি সাধারণ মানুষের মুখস্থ। সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় "নীললোহিত", "সনাতন পাঠক" ও "নীল উপাধ্যায়" ইত্যাদি ছদ্মনাম ব্যবহার করেছেন।

Ganguly created the Bengali fictional character Kakababu and wrote a series of novels on this character which became significant in Indian children's literature. He received Sahitya Akademi award in 1985 for his novel Those Days (Sei Samaya). Gangopadhyay used the pen names Nil Lohit, Sanatan Pathak, and Nil Upadhyay.
