Chelyabinsk is a city in Russia located on the eastern slopes of the Urals and is the capital of the homonymous Oblast '. Chelyabinsk from 1892 served as a center for the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway.

During the Soviet industrialization of the 1930s, Chelyabinsk underwent rapid growth. During this period, many industrial plants were built, including the large Chelyabinsk tractor factory and the Metallurgical Plant.
