With the help of the calculator, you can calculate and estimate the body mass index (BMI) based on height and weight information.

In the classic version of the calculator, the results are interpreted only by height and weight. In the extended version, age and gender are additionally taken into account.

For convenience and speed of calculation, the calculator uses sliders in addition to input fields. The result is also represented by a slider in the form of a color bar, where each color corresponds to the status of the indicator. By moving the result slider, you can visually see the weight corresponding to each indicator of the body mass index.

Briefly about the calculated indicator.

Body mass index (BMI) is an indicator that assesses the correspondence between height and weight of a person and allows you to determine whether his body weight is within the normal range.

Body mass index is the ratio of body weight in kilograms to the square of height in meters and is calculated by the formula:

I = m/h2

where:

m - body weight in kilograms

h - height in meters, measured in kg / m2.

The interpretation of indicators is carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization. The BMI index with normal body weight is in the range from 18.5 to 25, if lower, then the mass is insufficient, higher - overweight.
