Chinese New Year, also known as the "Spring Festival" in modern Mainland China, is China's most important traditional festival, celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar, which consists of both Gregorian and lunar-solar calendar systems.

On this day, you will see many wearing new clothes from head to toe, to symbolise a new start and fresh hopes for the year.

In China, New Year's Eve is seen as an important date, with families gathering together for a reunion dinner over an extravagant meal with lots of noise and laughter. Spring Festival celebrations traditionally end with a Lantern Festival or Spring Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the Lunar Year. Lantern Festival marks the end of the Chinese New Year and is the Chinese equivalent of Valentine's Day.
