AFK Journey, an upcoming title from Farlight Games and the successor to the popular AFK Arena, is set for release on both mobile and PC platforms this month. As a casual, open-world RPG, AFK Journey integrates strategic gacha mechanisms with elements of idle gaming. Set in the same universe as AFK Arena, this new installment is poised to surpass the original game in every conceivable aspect.
The game introduces a dynamic day-night cycle and varied weather conditions, enhancing the immersion in its expansive 3D environment. AFK Journey boasts a "live canvas" art style, designed to make players feel as if they are part of a vibrant, animated painting. Gamers will have the chance to interact with others in the community and encounter well-loved characters from the AFK Arena series.
Players assume the role of Merlin, a formidable wizard who has been stripped of his memories and powers, as they navigate the fantastical world of Esperian in an effort to restore its lost splendor. Throughout this journey, players will gather a band of new heroes to aid in their quest. Engaging in strategic, real-time combat, players can leverage traps and the lay of the land to gain the upper hand in battles.
The game offers a cross-play feature that allows you to demonstrate your prowess across different devices, no matter the platform you or your friends are on. Engage in collaboration with allies or face off in competition.
The title also introduces the concepts of hero progression and gear-sharing mechanics. Your heroes can advance in levels both actively and passively (even while you're away from the game), and the experience earned can be distributed among your characters. Additionally, gear can be exchanged between characters of the same class.
AFK Journey is set for release on March 27 and will be accessible for download on the App Store and Google Play, as well as via the official website for PC players.
